1st Annual Bet on Uncle Bruce event a huge success. Puffett bowls two perfect games. Happy Birthday Bruce!

It was a great day celebrating the life of Bruce Pettitt while doing three of his favorite hobbies.....golfing, bowling and gambling. The day was perfectly thought out by the Pettitt family. The day was even more special by the fact that it was Bruce's birthday and he would have been 59. It was apparent during the singing of "Happy Birthday" that the participants were not going to qualify for "The Voice." Eighteen teams of four started bowling at the Carroll Bowl and then proceeded over to the Carroll Country Club for a stroll around the front nine.

One of Uncle Bruce's biggest bowling rivals Jeff Puffett dominated the nine pin tournament by posting two perfect 300 games that received loud cheers from the packed house.

The girls toasting with Puff after a perfect 300 game!

After the golf the teams returned back to the Carroll Bowl to enjoy some good times along with a silent auction, door prizes and sharing memories of Bruce.

The champs!
Chad Kanne, Brad Stork, Kevin Forke and Nic Volquartsen took the title as the 1st Bet on Uncle Bruce Champions!

Thanks to the Pettitt family for inviting us to celebrate with them. Thanks to the staffs of the Caroll Bowl and the Carroll Country Club. A big thank you to all of the sponsors including the title sponsor Pettitt's Highway 30 Car Wash!

Mark your calendars for another great day next year as we double down on Bruce again.

As always this bud's for you and ON IOWA!

Happy Birthday my friend!

Now there is one.....Templeton Rye....On Iowa.....Pudenz wins Uncle Bruce award!

Congratulations to the Champs.....Templeton Rye!

They all gathered on the first tee of the Carroll Country Club with dreams of becoming champions of the 2012 Supper League. It was like a heavy weight fight as they starred each other down and decided who would play who. Both teams are veterans of Supper League with polished characters on each side. Macke Motors featured Captain Randy Bierl, Car Wash Todd Pettitt, Handicap extraordinaire Jeff Minnich and Flying Bob Raue. Their opponents were just as colorful...Produce Tom Duff, Diamond Denny Kasperbauer, Papa Joe Pick and the one and only Junkyard Dog Steve "Cuda" Quandt.

2012 Supper League Runner ups!

As a title match should it all came down to the last hole. Both teams played well and in the end the whiskeys of Templeton Rye prevailed over the motors. The farmer and dog beat Flying Bob and Car Wash. Denny Kasperbauer upset Jeff Minnich and Randy Bierl was the only winner for the runner ups with a victory over Tom Duff.

Both teams should be commended for their sportsmanship in the championship match and both could have won this close one.

Congratulations to Templeton Rye on winning the 2012 Men's Supper League!

Cheers to the Champs!

GPS Bob Pudenz won the inaugural Uncle Bruce Player of the year award.

Champion Ford beat Community Oil for third place!

A big thank you from this report goes out to Paul and Wade and their staff. Carrie, bar manager Dave and all of the staff and Dave along with everyone in the kitchen. It was a great league year and thanks for all of your hard work.

It is that time of year that loyal Iowans make their trip to eastern Iowa to historic Kinnick Stadium. I wish everyone safe travels if they are traveling to the game! I hope that it is a good game and as each and everyone one of you expected my feelings about the game are below!

Think of me on Saturday as I will have my brother in law John Dukes with me at the game. Everyone knows what an adventure that can be!

Brett Abbotts wins 2012 Bill Franey Open!

2012 champion Brett Abbotts, Shirley Franey & Mike Franey

He found the memorial tournament listed on the Iowa Golf Association website so he decided to sign up and make the forty minute drive from Ames to Jefferson on Sunday. With drives in excess of 300 yards Abbotts carved his way around the fairways and greens of the Raccoon Valley Golf Course just south of Jefferson to win the 2012 Bill Franey Open. The twenty five year old 6th grade special education teacher at Southeast Polk took a five shot lead into the championship nine and never looked back. He finished with a seven under par 101 total for twenty seven holes which was good enough to beat two time champion Craig Mertz by four. His individual nine hole scores were 32 - 31- 38. The 101 total was the lowest winning score since the tournament's name was changed seven years ago.
Golf is in the family for Abbotts as his dad is in the Ontario Golf Association Hall of Fame. He played his college golf for Dakota Wesleyan in White Lakes, South Dakota where he received a four year golf scholarship. When he is not in the classroom he works at Copper Creek Golf Course in Pleasant Hill. Just a week before coming to Jefferson he finished a strong fourth in the Ames City Tournament. He labeled himself a "recreational golfer." With his long drives, soft touch around the greens and solid putting stroke he is now labeled a Bill Franey Open Champion. "These greens are so smooth and putt great" Abbotts said.

Two time champion Craig Mertz finished four shots back at 105 and one shot ahead of Todd Madson of Jefferson. DMACC freshman and Carroll High School graduate Tanner Ludwig finished fourth at 106. Former Jefferson resident Jeff Muench was fifth at 107, former Carroll Country Golf Professional Joe Ward was sixth at 108 followed by other championship flight qualifiers Kyler Ludwig 109 who is a member of the Grand View golf team. Eric Butenbach 110, Nico Costa 110, brothers Brad Christensen 111 and Kyle Christensen 114 and Carroll Country Golf Professional Paul Tigges with 118.

Other Carroll golfers in the tournament were first flight winner Corey Bluml who was looking to complete a grand slam on Sunday but instead missed the cut by one. Other first flight scores were Lonny Lehrkamp 74, Justin Yetmar 75, DMACC in Boone freshman Matt Gute 75. Troy Auen who was celebrating his birthday Sunday 75, Brad Hempstead 76, Collin Hackett 76, Carroll High School senior Sam Wilkie 77, former Carroll resident Nate Ward 77, Chad Kanne 77, Mike Franey 77, Steve Sinnard 77 and Pete Collison 77.

Second flight scores were Tim Gute 78, Terry "Wong" Olson 79, Steve "Cuda" Quandt 79, Tom Burns 79, Tom Duff 79, Andy Bernholtz 80, Benet Snyder 80, Matt Lujano 80, Dave Blum 80, Mark Tigges 82 and Wyatt Haukap 82.

Third flight scores were Kevin Forke 83, Carroll city councilman Tom Tait 83, Steve Auen who also was celebrating his birthday 83, John Dukes 83, Johnny Beiter 84, Kevin Milligan 84, Dave Nelson 84, Pat Macke 86, Mike McDermott 87, Brad Stork 87.

Mike Schulz won first in the fourth flight with a 87. Other fourth flight scores were Sean O'Leary 89, Frank Comito 92, Scott Tjaden 97, and Nick Bowdish 110. Defending champion Scott Quandt was not in this year’s field.

The tournament named after Bill Franey, father of Mike Franey of Carroll who passed away in May of 2006 attracted 39 of the 72 players in the field. The tournament was formerly known as the Al Hoy Memorial, where Franey served as the tournament director for 25 years. In 2006 the board of directors of the golf course renamed the tournament the Bill Franey Open.

Proceeds from the tournament support a scholarship given annually to a student training to be an electric lineman at Northwest Community College in Sheldon. Franey was a lineman for the Midland Power Coop in Jefferson for 31 years and served as line superintendent for another 10 years.

All golfers played 18 holes with the low 12 players qualifying for a final championship nine holes. Eighty golfers were in this year’s field which produced the lowest eighteen hole qualifying score in recent memory. To qualify into the championship nine players had to shoot two over par 73 or lower. Tanner Ludwig won medalist honors in the final round with a four under par 34.

Tournament organizers would like to thank all of the golfers who participated, Todd and Bret Madson for their great work on the course and in the clubhouse, tournament scorer Jan Whitver, Deanna McPherson, Marcia Ostlund, Vicki Copeland, Kris Carrick, Nancy Scheffers, Connie Semke, Sheryl Peterson, Connie Hamilton, Annie Johnston, Betty Kious and all of the women who provided the salads for making the tournament a success.

Your Bud Light team ended its 2012 season last night with a 40 to 32 loss to Champion Ford in the quarterfinals. The difference in the match was a 6-0 loss by Captain Mike Franey to Two time Papa Joe Champion Dave Nelson. Mike Schulz beat Monument Man Loren Boyce, Bud Three Steve Auen beat head Ford man Ken Payer and Steve Sinnard tied with Wade Wilkie.

After the match Franey said "Looking back I should have recruited a sub to play for me." It is time for a new vision and new leadership for your Bud Light team. With that in mind I am officially resigning as Bud Light team Captain. I will continue to deliver Meals on Wheels though! All things must come to an end and I realize that this team can achieve great things with a fresh start. Over the next few months Bud Light team officials will discuss the future of the team.

Champion Ford advances on to the semifinals with a tough match with the farmer and dog's Templeton Rye team. The whiskeys pounded Graddy's Salsa's 45 to 27. Steve "Cuda" Quandt, Papa Joe Pick and Kyle Christensen all won 12 to 9 over Tomato John Gradoville, Nick Fangman and Mike Loehr. Produce Tom Duff and Rick Grote tied their match.

Macke Motors beat Budweiser in the closest match of the night 37 to 35. Flying Bob Raue led the motors with a 12 to 6 win over Counter top Pat Malloy. Raue was the only winner for the motors. Car Wash Todd Pettitt lost to retired Randy Hockom 8 to 10. Jeff Minnich lost to Bud man John Greteman 10 to 8 and Randy Bierl tied with GPS Bob Pudenz. Next up for the motors is Chico Kanne and the oil jobbers of Community Oil.

Community Oil shocked Van Diest Supply Company 38 to 34. The difference was Todd Kanne's 15 to 3 beating of Pete Collison. Ryan Milligan beat the head oil jobber Chico Kanne 12 to 6. Captain Dirk Glynn beat Jerry Janson 12 to 6 and Dick Muhlbauer beat Aaron Pick 11 to 7. Community Oil will face off with Supper League power house Macke Motors next week.

Corey Bluml wins Club Championship!

Corey Bluml joined a short list of Carroll golfers to win the Carroll City Tournament, the Carroll Muny Tournament and the Carroll Country Club Tournament on Sunday. Bluml joins names like John Peterson and Tom Reiman. Bluml took a five shot lead into the final nine and never looked back firing an one under par 36 to win both the gross and net divisions of the Carroll Country Club Tournament. The net division win also included a very lucrative prize fund in the calcutta. Bluml will be in the field next weekend in Jefferson at the Bill Franey Open.

Congratulations to Zoe Ruchti for winning the Ladies Club Championship!
The final foursome was Corey Bluml, Mike Eckerman, Matt Fleshner and Craig Mertz

John Gradoville, Mike Schulz, Brad Hempstead and Kyle Christiansen were part of the Championship nine.
Happy Birthday to Jenna Lujano!

Happy Birthday Karen! Congratulations Karen and Denny on your wedding last weekend as well.

Bud Three chips Bud Light to victory......King of Beers survive.....Bill Franey Open registration begins!

The gasp that you heard last night around 8 was the Bud Light nation exhaling after Bud Three Steve "Hans"Auen flopped a sand wedge to six feet propelling your Bud Light team past defending Supper League champions Stiff Sticks.  After nine holes of competition on a beautiful Carroll Country Club night the two were tied 36 to 36. To decide who would earn the right to play #1 seed Champion Ford the two were taken behind #9 green for a chip off where your Bud Light team seized the moment thanks to a Bud Three Hans Auen chip.

Steve Sinnard and Mike Schulz provided much needed wins for the team. Neal Cross led the way for the Stiff Sticks with a blistering one over par 38 on the front nine.

Next up for your Bud Light team is British Open flight winner Champion Ford who had a bye last night.

Action in the Masters Flight also ended in a dead heat requiring a chip off where the King of Beers out chipped Utilicomm. Budweiser earns an August 21st meeting with Supper league powerhouse Macke Motors and their star handicap wizard Jeff Minnich.

Graddy's Salsas toppled Active Performance to advance into the second round. Graddy's will play the farmer and dog's Templeton Rye team. This will be a very interesting match up as Graddy's have seemed to find their step in the 16th week.

Head oil jobber Chico Kanne paddled his team to a victory over the Carroll Cycle Center earning a trip to the second round. Community Oil will play Dirk Glynn's Van Diest Supply Company. Glynn has entered into a consulting agreement with Bud Light team captain Mike Franey for advice on getting his team to the championship match. The consulting agreement is good through August 28th and the terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Bud Light and Van Diest Supply are on a crash course for a September 4th Supper League championship match.

Don't forget to get your tee time for the 2012 CCC club tournament this weekend. The gross and net champions will receive a set of Taylor Made Rocket Balls Irons. The calcutta auction will follow couples league on Friday night. All eyes will be on Muny club champion and city champion Corey Bluml as he attempts to sweep all three local tournaments for 2012.

Tee times are being taken for the 7th annual Bill Franey Open on the fairways and greens of the Raccoon Valley Golf Course just south of Jefferson. Defending Champion Scott Quandt is in the strong field along with 2012 Carroll City Champion and 2012 Carroll Muny Champion Corey Bluml.

That is a wrap for week 16 action from the Carroll Country Club. Look for reports from the quarter final action and the wrap up from the club championship.

Playoffs set.....Club Championship coming up.....Stiff Sticks look to repeat!

When the last putt fell to the bottom of the cup around 8 o'clock on Tuesday the field of 12 were set to compete for the 2012 Men's Supper League Championship. The defending league champions made there stake through trusty Mike Nelson who approached this publisher with a napkin with one word on it....gauntlet....as he dropped it to the floor. If their gauntlet is going to drop YOUR Bud Light team certainly will have something to say about it. Stiff Sticks face Bud Light in the first round of the playoffs. Good luck to Fairway Frank and the defending champions.

Four team received byes: Templeton Savings Bank, Champion Ford, Macke Motors and Van Diest Supply.

How did we get to twelve? In the Masters Flight of the  Zach Johnson Division there were no changes in the top three as Macke Motors, Carroll Cycle Center and Utilicomm all gain spots in the championship. Utilicomm beat Macke Motors and looks to be a contender in the upcoming weeks.

Van Diest Supply took back the spot that they held most of the year as they jumped Budweiser in the PGA Flight. Van Diest used a beating of Brown Shoe Fit Company 53-19 to earn the first round bye. It was not a bad night for Budweiser as they beat Carroll Glass 45 to 27. Community Oil remained in third to advance.

Pete Collison was low gross with a 36 and also shared low net with Bill Schwabe. Van Diest Supply was low net team. Ryan Milligan was closest to the pin and Pete Collison nailed the longest putt.

In the Phil Mickelson Division Templeton Rye beat defending Stiff Sticks 40 to 32 to earn their bye. Stiff Sticks settled in the second spot. The big mover was Active Performance by scoring 46 against par to nudge out Juergen's Lawn Care by 1 to earn the spot.

The British Open Flight remained the same with Champion Ford the #1 seed and Graddy's Salsas and Your Bud Light team keeping their dreams alive by advancing into the playoffs.

Steve "Cuda' Quandt, Joe Pick, Adam Schweers, Larry Sporrer and Dave Nelson were all low gross with even par 34 rounds. Mayor Adam Schweers was low net with 37. Active Performance was low net team.  Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz was closest to the pin on #17 and John Horbach drained the longest putt.

Best of luck to all of the teams in the upcoming playoffs!

Don't forget to sign up for the club championship!

Congratulations to Corey Bluml for winning the Carroll Municipal Golf Course Championship. We will all be watching to see if he will win all three championships this year in the City of Carroll.

Tom Duff edged out Steve "Cuda" Quandt and Papa Joe Pick with a 66 to win the City Senior Championship.

That is a wrap for now!

One week remains......Here comes Bud Light....short teams make mark on week 14!

Five teams are fighting for three spots in the British Open Flight where first and fifth are only seperated by 25 points.

Champion Ford has led for most of the fourteen weeks and have a August 7 match up with two time supper league champions YOUR Bud Light team.
The cars  scored 37 points against par in week 14 and have a 20 point lead over Graddy's Salsa and Your Bud Light team. Dave Nelson was the MVP for the Fords. Clothier Wade Wilkie and Monument Man Loren Boyce were also winners.

Your Bud Light team took care of business against Templeton Savings Bank. Mike Franey led the team with a victory over Fire Alarm John Feld. Franey shot a one under par 36 on the front nine. Bud Three Steve Auen beat Scott Greteman 10 to 8. A subbing Chad Kanne came in hot from the East and beat Security Mike Schulz 12 to 6 and Eastside Tony Pietig beat Craig Mertz.

Graddy's Salsa topped Badding Construction 37 to 35. Councilman Jeff Scharfenkamp and Tomato John Gradoville the big winners for the salsas with 12 to 6 victories over  Tiger Tom Simons and head hammer Ron Badding. The salsas play par next week to attempt to secure their spot in the playoffs.

Templeton Savings Bank and Badding Construction square off next week to secure a playoff spot.

Over in the US Open Flight Templeton Rye continued their winning ways with a 47 to 25 beating of Juergen's Lawn Care. Team rookie Denny Kasperbauer and Produce Tom Duff led the team with 13 to 5 wins. Cuda Quandt beat Kyle Atkinson and Papa Joe Pick tied. Templeton's lead is 21 over defending champion Stiff Sticks.

The sticks collected 43 points off par. Fairway Frank Comito was the MVP. The whiskeys, sticks and lawn boys all look to been firmly in the playoffs..

Phil Mickelson division prizes: Low Gross - Kyle Atkinson, Dr. Dave Nystrom and Craig Mertz with 35, Low net Jeff Sharfenkamp, low net team to Active Performance.  Denny Kasperbauer was closest to the pin on #8 and Cuda Quandt nailed the longest putt on #9.

Masters flight leaders Macke Motors were beaten by Greteman Chiropratic 39 to 33. Car wash Todd Pettitt the only winner for the motors.

The Carroll Cycle Center beat WCI to pull within 7 of Macke. Jamming Joe Hinners and Head Hog Terry Ruchti were big winners.

This is a four horse race for three spots between Macke Motors who look to avoid a devastating collapse, Carroll Cycle Center, Greteman Chiropractic and Chad Kanne's Utilicomm. Macke and Utilcomm will face each other in week 14 as will Greteman Chiro and Carroll Cycle Center.

Budweiser took advantage of a short team to score 55 points and over take Van Diest Supply Company atop the PGA Flight. Counter top Pat Malloy was the MVP. The King of Beers had all winners.  Budweiser plays Carroll Glass in week 14.

Van Diest Supply beat Carroll Glass 40 to 32. Andy Reiman the MVP. Van Diest plays Brown Shoe Fit in week 14.

Chico Kanne's Community Oil is in third after a 46 to 26 win over Brown Shoe Fit. Todd Kanne the MVP with a big win!

Four teams battling for three spots. Carroll Glass was hugely affected by two teams not having full sqauds in week 14 which may just cost them a spot in the playoffs.

Zach Johnson Division prizes: Pat Malloy low gross, Dirk Glynn low net, Budweiser low net team, Bill Schawbe closest to the in on #8 and Car wash Todd Pettitt longest putt on #18.

Look for more coverage next week on the playoffs as YOUR Bud Light team strives for their third championship.

Defending Northwest Iowa Amateur Champion Kirby Pettitt shot a 68 in the first round yesterday. Good luck Kirby!

A hot and steamy week 13 was just right for Fairway Frank's Stiff Sticks as they scored 49 points to close the lead to 17. Templeton Rye had a good night as well. No change at the top......Sinnard fades one......Bud Light beats Par!

It was a glorious night on the fairways and greens of the Carroll Country Club! There was no change at the top of the four flights in week 11 although most leads did shrink.

In the British Open Flight Champion Ford squeaked by Badding Construction 37 to 35. Head Ford man Kenny Payer and Steve Herrin were the only winners for the top dogs beating Jair Mayhall and Jeff Greteman. Two time Papa Joe Classic Champion Digger Dave Nelson was beaten by numbers Bob Muhlbauer. Monument Man Loren Boyce and and head hammer Ron "Bubba" Badding battled to a tie. The cars remain in first although their lead was reduced to to 21.

Your Bud Light team jumped Graddy's Salsa into 2nd with a sound beating of Par. Steve Sinnard was the MVP winning 12 points. Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz scored 10 points along with low gross honors. Bud Two Troy Auen and Mike Franey each scored 11. Mertz had a blistering run of holes on Monday night where he was 12 under par for 32 holes. In after golf Auen, Franey and Mertz witnessed Steve Sinnard fade a ball out of bounds on the 13th hole which is a less frequent occurrence than a full moon. Franey was closest to the pin on 17th.

Graddy's Salsa dropped to 3rd after suffering blunt force tramua to the head from the clubs of Templeton Savings Bank. Eastside Shell's Tony Pietig and head bus driver Scott Greteman led the way for the bank team beating Mike Loehr and Rick Grote. John Feld and John Horbach won as well. NO winners for the salsas. Tony Pietig shared low gross honors with an one under 33.

In the US Open Flight Templeton Rye scored 42 points against par. Denny Kasperbauer was the MVP and was awarded low net.  Papa Joe Pick and Cuda Quandt each won. Pick carded a three under par round in the more mature league on Tuesday afternoon from the gold tees. Produce Tom Duff was beaten by Miss Par for the only loss. The whiskeys lost ground to defending champions Stiff Sticks. The sticks and the whiskeys shared the low net team award of the evening.

The sticks clobbered Byronz Boyz 46 to 26. Dr. Neal Cross, Trusty Mike Nelson, Doc Sporrer and Fairway Frank Comito were all winners. Comito drained the longest putt on 18 as well. In an after the round interview Comito said " We seem to be like a horse who starts running in between the 3rd and 4th turn." Off the record Comito hinted about a possible Supper League repeat! Comito is now concentrating his efforts on the upcoming Papa Joe Classic. Comito is the defending champion of the event beating law partner Jeff Minnich by one last year after a career round. Damn attorneys!

Jurgen's Lawn Care mowed down Active Performance 42 to 30. Kyle Christensen, Bob Linde, Ron Juergens and Twenty time Carroll City Champion Mike "Jewels" Eckerman were all winners.

Over in the Zach Johnson division Macke Motors scored 42 points against par and stretched their lead to 21. Captain Randy Bierl and Jeff Minnich scored 13 points and Car Wash Todd Pettitt and a subbing Security Mike Schulz scored 8.

Utilcomm beat the Carroll Cycle Center 38 to 34 to remain in second. Pat Macke redeemed himself and led the team with a 12 to 6 beating of J.B. Greenwell. Wyatt Haukap beat Corey Bluml 10 to 8 and Bud Three Steve "Hans" Auen tied Jamming Joe Hinners. Whoops! What happen to the vocal captain Chad Kanne? Kanne was beaten by Head Hog Terry Ruchti 11 to 7 for the only team lose. Maybe Mr. Kanne should not be so vocal of Grant and Lauren's dad since he carried the team in week 11!

Community Oil beat WCI 37 to 35. Jerry Janson led the team again with a 12 to 6 win over the head basement wall guy Scott Schon. Todd Kanne tied Brian Badding, Dick Muhlbauer and Chico Kanne both suffered losses.

In the upset of the night Greteman Chiropractor beat Budweiser 39 to 33. GPS Bob Pudenz the only winner for the King of Beers. Counter top Pat Malloy was the big loser for the team with a 11 to 7 loss to Larry Olbering. Malloy was critical of your publisher concerning the allegations that he let his team down last week. Sorry Mr. Malloy for last weeks comments which came directly from your team BUT it appears that you have enough problems from this week to worry about! Budweiser remains 20 points behind Van Diest Supply Company. This publisher will be watching how Captain Countertop gets this team to rally.

Van Diest Supply Company continued their winning ways 42 to 30 over Carroll Broadcasting. Jay Westerkamp the MVP for the chemical company. Ryan Milligan was a winner for the team. Brad Pick suffered a loss to Clothier Wade Wilkie. The Broadcasters were one player short. Where was Kimmy's son Collin?

Carroll Glass beat Brown Shoe Fit Company 39 to 33. Head glass cutter Andy Reiman was the MVP with a 12 to 6 victory over Book man John Nepple. Brad Stork beat Jeff Bahr 10 to 8 and Benton Snyder tied Carroll Country Club Golf Professional Paul Tigges.

Brad Stork, Terry Ruchti and Brad Pick were low gross. Community Oil's MVP Jerry Janson was low net. Carroll Glass was low net team. Wade Wilke was closest to the pin and Larry Olbering nailed the longest putt.

Defending league champions increased their winning streak to four with a 45 to 27 win over Templeton Savings Bank. Larry "Doc" Sporrer led the way. Mike Nelson and Neal Cross were winners. Fairway Frank Comito was the only loser for the sticks. For their efforts the defending champs gained five points on flight leading Templeton Rye. Bud One Jim Auen was out of action with a broken toe. Lots of rumors of just how that toe was broken are surfacing but since this report is all about fair and balanced reporting I will not comment on any of those reports.

Over in the Zach Johnson division Utilicomm shattered Carroll Glass 48 to 24 to move into second place just 17 points behind flight leading Macke Motors. Wyatt Haukap was the MVP with a 14 to 4 beat down of Andy Reiman. Head cable guy Chad Kanne beat John Deere Benet Snyder 13 to 5. Westside State Savings Bank's head teller Matt Lujano beat Lidderdale Country Store's Brad Stork 12 to 6. Tyler Tassel and Keith Pottebaum played nine holes to a 9 to 9 tie. Wyatt Haukap was low gross with an even par 34. Keith Pottebaum was low net. Utilicomm was low net team. On course reporters for after golf have reported that the five point match following golf was one for the record books.

Macke Motors maintained their top spot with a 38 to 34 win over the King of Beers. Car Wash Todd Pettitt led the motors with a 11 to 8 win over Brad Hempstead. Jeff Minnich had better luck on the golf course than on the water with a 10 to 8 win over t shirt Joel Harris. Fred Dolezal beat Flying Bob Raue. Bus man John Greteman and Captain carpet Randy Bierl battled to a tie. Budweiser team captain Counter top Pat Malloy faces team suspension for his week 10 actions. Budwieser moved up one point and now is only trailing league leading Van Diest Supply by 11.

Van Diest Supply took it on the chin from WCI 39 to 33. Air Time Pete Collison and Ryan Milligan beat Nick Bowdish and Michael Kasperbauer. Tom Burns and Jay Westerkamp were both beaten.

Community Oil was beaten by always tough par 33 to 39. Jerry Janson the only winner for the oil jobbers with the green shirts.

In this publisher's opinion it was a great call by PGA Professional Paul Tigges to make next Tuesday's league night a fun night. It is hard enough for all of the teams to field a team on a regular night let alone the night before the 4th of July. Good work Paul!

There will be no report next week as this publisher is off to Minnesota to do some fishing and attend the Longville Minnesota turtle races on July 4th! I wish each and everyone you a Happy and safe 4th of July.

Jerry Janson pounded Papa Joe Champion Jeff Minnich 15 to 3 on his way to low net. Flying Bob Raue a big winner 15 to 3 over the head oil jobber Chico Kanne. What could possibly be wrong with Community Oil’s head man as he had not seen the winner's circle since week 5....just saying? Todd Kanne beat Randy Bierl 11 to 7 and Dierk Halverson and Car Wash Todd Pettitt went nine holes only to tie.

Carroll Cycle Center lost ground to the motors with a 32 to 40 loss to Budweiser. GPS Bob Pudenz the MVP for the king of beers with a 12 to 6 win over Captain Terry Ruchti. Sinnard carries Bud Light to big win……Hackett low again……Van Diest, Macke Motors and Champion Ford continue to lead and FINALLY no wind.

Your Bud Light team rode the wings of Steve Sinnard to a much needed 46 to 26 win over Juergern’s Lawn Care. Sinnard beat Aaron Juergens 17 to 1. Bud Three Steve Auen was a 12 to 6 winner over Bob Linde. Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz battled to a tie with twenty time Carroll city champion Mike “Jewels” Eckerman. Mike Schulz was the only loser for Your Bud Light team by losing a close one 8 to 10. Schulz is benched for week 8 action. With the impressive win Your Bud Light team emerges from the cellar and is only 11 points out of second place in the British Open division.

US Open flight leaders Templeton Rye extended their lead by one with a 38 to 34 win over Graddy’s Salsa. Tomato John handpicked Bud Two Troy Auen and Your Captain Mike Franey to play against Papa Joe Pick and Junk Yard Dog Cuda Quandt last night. Pick beat Franey 11 to 7 in a match that he was always in control of. Bud Two crushed Quandt 13 to 5. Auen shot a two under par 35. Franey and Auen won the all-important side money match last night which added a stinging effect to the farmer and the dog. Produce Tom Duff smashed Tomato John 13 to 5. Denny Kasperbauer and Carroll County State Bank’s head man Jeff Scharfenkamp battled to a 9 – 9 tie.

Defending league champions Stiff Sticks were winners over Badding Construction 37 to 35. Larry “Doc” Sporrer the MVP for the sticks with a 12 to 6 win over Windstar Lines head bus driver Jeff Gretemen. Fairway Frank Comito and Ron Badding played to a draw.

British Open Flight leaders Champion Ford continued their winning ways with a 44 to 28 win over Active Performance. Clothier Wade Wilkie the MVP for the fords with a 13 to 5 win over Bud One Jim Auen. Monument Man Loren Boyce, Digger Dave Nelson and Head Ford man Ken Payer were all winners for the car company.

Craig Mertz was the low gross winner last night with a three under par 34. Bud Two Troy Auen and Chris Bogue shared low net honors with 32. Your Bud Light team was low net team. Ron Badding was closest to the pin on #8 and Numbers Bob Muhlbauer drained the longest putt on 9.

So after the cross over league matches the standings are as follows:

US Open Flight – Templeton Rye 304, Stiff Sticks 282, Juergen’s Lawn Care 280, Byronz Boyz 271 and Active Performance 267.

British Open Flight – Champion Ford 322, Graddy’s Salsa 298, Templeton Savings Bank 288, Bud Light 287 and Badding Construction 280.

Over in the Zach Johnson division saw both flight leaders extend their leads.

Car Wash Todd Pettitt and Jeff Minnich led Macke Motors to a 46 to 26 win over Carroll Glass. Pettitt beat John Deere Benet Snyder and Minnich beat Keith Pottebaum. Captain Randy Bierl and Flying Bob Raue were both winners over Lidderdale Country Store’s head pork chop Brad Stork and Head glass man Andy Reiman.

Van Diest Supply got a big win out of Jay Westerkamp 14 to 4 over the head cable guy Chad Kanne. Looks like Kanne will not have much room to talk about team member Pat Macke this week after a devastating loss. Chemical Dirk Glynn beat Westside State Savings Bank’s head teller Matt Lujano 13 to 5. Scott Schon and Wyatt Haukap the only winners for the cable guys.

Carroll Cycle Center took it on the chin 35 to 37 from Community Oil. Chico’s assistant oil jobber Todd and Badding Construction’s head hammer Nick Badding were the MVP’s for the oilers. Happy 45th Birthday Steve Sinnard……Champion Ford continues to dominate……Bud Light in rebuilding year....Van Diest and Budweiser win big!

This reporter would like to apologize for the technical difficulties that occurred in week 6 that prevented a report last week. This week I will incorporate some results from last week and will give credit where credit is due.

Happy 45th Birthday Steve!
On this day 45 years ago Bruce and Sue Sinnard of Illinois gave birth to a bouncing baby boy they called Steve! Happy Birthday Mr. Sinnard!

Happy Birthday to garbage truck Scott Kanne today. He is 44!

Trouble in Sin City!
Week 7 saw the top two teams in the Master’s Flight lose and still maintain their positions. Macke Motors was upset by Kim’s son Collin’s Carroll Broadcasting team 32 to 40. Flying Bob Raue the only winner for the motors. Collin Hackett beat Car Wash Todd Pettitt despite Hackett’s nagging hangover from a weekend Vegas trip with his mother and her friends. Brad Hempstead and Colin Bierl were winners as well beating Captain Randy Bierl and Jeff Minnich.

Second place Carroll Cycle Center lost a 32 to 40 close one to Andy Reiman’s glass cutters. Head hog Terry Ruchti the only winner for the cycles. Jay Dress is benched for week 8 action. Keith Pottebaum led the way for the glass guys. Lidderdale’s head chef Brad Stork and Reiman both were winners. Reiman was low gross in week 6 with a 35.

Utilicomm saw the return of Pat Macke to the lineup. Macke was trounced by Carpet Todd Bierl 13 to 5. Bierl led the Brown Shoe Fit Company to a 41 to 31 victory. What is team captain Chad Kanne going to do now? Kanne could not be reached for comment. Carroll High’s new girls basketball coach Tyler Tassell the only winner for the cable guys. Jeff Bahr beat Westside State Savings Bank’s head teller Matt Lujano 11 to 7. Lujano drained the longest putt last week on 18. Bahr along with John Nepple won the Dedham Legion 4 baller on Sunday at the Carroll Country Club. Tassell was low net and had closest to the pin last week along with Utilcomm winning low net team.

WCI straightened the walls of Community Oil. Chico Kanne seemed a bit tired after he attempted to defend his Ozark Golf Tourney championship last week. Kanne’s repeat bid fell short and he was clobbered by Brandon Vonnahme. Dierk Halverson the MVP for the oil jobbers. Kanne and Halverson were seen driving aimlessly around after the round looking for golf balls to replace Kanne's stock after his trip to South. Chico’s first assistant Todd was beaten by Scott Schon.

Budweiser notched a big win over Greteman Chiropractic 45 to 27. Pat Malloy and Fred Dolezal were big winners for the king of beers. T-shirt Joel Harris the only loser for the beers.

Welcome Mallory Rae!

Flight leaders Van Diest Supply dominated par last night to maintain their lead over Budweiser. Dirk Glynn and Brad Pick the team MVP’s. The chemicals dedicated this win to Mallory Rae Milligan who arrived Monday at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital. Congratulations to Ryan and Kathi.

Brad Pick, Brad Hempstead and Wyatt Haukap were low gross with one under pars 36. Dirk Glynn was low net and he helped his team to low net team honors. Todd Bierl was closest to the pin on eight and Brad Hempstead drained the longest putt on nine.

The standings in the Masters Flight: Macke Motors 264, Carroll Cycle Center 255, Utilcomm 249, WCI 234 and Greteman Chiropractic 225.

The standings in the PGA Flight: Van Diest Supply 284, Budweiser 273, Carroll Glass 258, Community Oil 236, Brown Shoe Fit 232 and Carroll Broadcasting 230.

Over in the Phil Mickelson division the two time Supper league champions Your Bud Light team fell into the cellar of the British Open Flight with a 34 to 38 loss to Fairway Frank’s Stiff Sticks. In a press conference after the sun set Bud Light team captain Mike Franey labeled this year as a “rebuilding year” for America’s team. We will strive to stay positive and use great sportsmanship until we can get this train back on the track. Thanks for your continued support of Your Bud Light team during this difficult time. Birthday boy Steve Sinnard was the only winner for Bud Light beating Bud One Jim Auen. Mike Franey and Doc Sporrer battled to a tie. Mike Schulz and Bud Three Steve Auen were both beaten 11 to 7 by Dr. Neal Cross and Chip Wittrock.

British Open Flight front runners Champion Ford pounded Juergen’s Lawn Care 46 to 26. Two time Papa Joe Champion Digger Dave Nelson was the MVP beating Tony Feldmann 13 to 5. Wade Wilke and Monument Man Loren Boyce were also winners for the cars. After the week 7 action Tomato John Gradoville called out the fords for what he is calling a fudging of the handicaps. This report has hired outside counsel to investigate these allegations. An unidentified Champion Ford team member commented after the match that we have nothing to be concerned about. Our handicaps are true and Mr. Gradoville allegations are false. Wade Wilkie nailed the longest putt in week 6. Monument Man Loren Boyce scored low net in week 6.

For their efforts Graddy’s Salsa beat Byronz Boyz 40 to 32 and lost ground to the fords. Tomato John was the MVP with a 14 to 4 beat down of Steve Young. Mike Loehr also a winner for the hot salsas. One has to think that Tomato John’s frustration comes from the fact they are 14 out of the lead and just cannot make up any ground.

Templeton Savings Bank lost 32 to 40 to Active Performance. Shell Oil’s Tony Pietig the only winner for the bankers. Pietig was low gross and low net in week 6.

Badding Construction called in two subs to upset league leading Templeton Rye 39 to 33. Fairway Frank Comito got revenge from an earlier loss to Papa Joe Pick with a 10 to 8 victory. Retired Randy Hockom thumped the Junk Yard Dog 13 to 5. Produce Tom Duff the only winner for the whiskeys. Denny Kasperbauer battled to a 9 – 9 tie. The Rye boys still have a 12 point lead in the US Open Flight.

Dr. Dave Nystrom was low gross with a two under 34, Brian Widdell was low net with a 29, and Graddy’s Salsa won low new team. Steve Herrin was closest to the pin on 17 and Dr. Dave Nystrom nailed the longest putt on 18.

The standings in the US Open Flight: Templeton Rye 266, Juergen’s Lawn Care 254, Stiff Sticks 245, Byronz Boyz 240 and Active Performance 237.

The standings in the British Open Flight: Champion Ford 278, Graddy’s Salsa 264, Templeton Savings Bank 247, Badding Construction 245 and Your Bud Light team 241.

1.  Bob Pudenz        13.40
2.  Ken Payer          13.00
3.  Dirk Glynn          12.75
4.  Randy Hockom  11.33

7.  Chip Wittrock     11.00
9.  Brad Pick            10.83

Another windy night.....Hackett low AGAIN..........Two time Papa Joe Champion turning 50.....Templeton Rye rolls....Chico Kanne on fire!

Templeton Rye busted out of the three way first place tie in the US Open Flight in week 5 with a 45 to 27 pounding of defending Supper league champions Stiff Sticks. The sticks were visibly out of sorts as they ate supper together after the match. With the loss Stiff Sticks settle into the third position. All winners for the whiskeys. Produce Tom Duff and Retired Randy Hockom led the way. Even Steve "Cuda" Quandt and Papa Joe Pick were winners! Pick also had the closest to the pin flag prize on #17. Fairway Frank Comito declined comment about the match. Assistant team captain Bud One Jim Auen who did not play for the sticks last night and would not even eat with them after the match said "We are at a crossroads with our team as we can not bench them all."

Juergens Lawn Care took over the second spot with a 42 to 30 thumping of Byronz Boyz. Mike "Jewels" Eckerman and Bill Linde led the way for the grass cutters. Bob Gigure the only winner for the Boyz. This pairing followed your Bud Light team last night and this reporter apologizes for being so slow. Active Performance topped a very tough par team 37 to 35.

The US Open flight standings: Templeton Rye 193, Juergens Lawn Care 190, Stiff Sticks 175, Byronz Boyz 174 and Active Performance 167.

The British Open Flight saw Champion Ford extend their lead with a 38 to 34 win over YOUR Bud Light team. Head Ford Ken Payer took it to Mike Franey 13 to 5. Congrats to Payer as he will be playing in the upcoming Principal Classic Pro Am at Glen Oaks in Des Moines. Bud Three Steve "Hans" Auen was defeated by Steve Herrin. Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz defeated Clothier Wade Wilkie and Bud Two Troy Auen topped Monument Man Loren Boyce. Mertz was awarded low gross along with Dr. David Nystrom. Two time Papa Joe Champion Digger Dave Nelson was absent in week 5 preparing for this weekends graduation of daughter Anna and watering the garden.

The tomatoes of Graddy's Salsa were smashed by par 40 to 32. Jeff Scharfenkamp and Rick Grote the only winners for the tomatoes.

Templeton Savings Bank edged Badding Construction 38 to 32 in a battle of the brother in laws. Jair Mayhall earns bragging rights with a 10 to 8 win over Scott Greteman. Mayhall was so excited with his win he ran out of the clubhouse and went home early. Tony Pietig a big winner over numbers Bob Muhlbauer.

The standings in the British Open Flight: Champion Ford 192, Graddy's Salsa 182, Templeton Savings Bank 181, Bud Light 175 and Badding Construction 168.

Over in the Zach Johnson the elderly team, Macke Motors, had their lead shaved by four with a 35 to 37 loss to Utilcomm. Captain Randy Bierl the only winner for the motors. Car Wash Todd Pettitt nailed closest to the pin on #8. Head cable guy Chad Kanne was very vocal in the corner table last night about the future of Pat Macke on his team. Macke was the only loser on the team. Kanne said "I question if Macke will play for our team again this year! The way I see is that Macke just beats himself. I am exploring a trade to Templeton Savings/Shell Oil/Eastside Shell or whatever their name is this week." For their efforts Utilcomm was awarded low net team. This publisher questions the severity of the verbal abuse against Macke.

The Carroll Cycle Center beat Greteman Chiropractic 43 to 29. Corey Bluml finally gets a league win for the cycles but has not graduated to the team table for dinner. Head Harley Terry Ruchti and Dr. J.B. Greenwell were both winners for the cycles. Jamming Joe Hinners was the only loser. Ruchti must have stole some shorts(plaid) from the closet of Produce Tom Duff for last night's action. Ruchti and his shorts drained the longest putt on #9.

Par trumped WCI 36 to 36. No winners for the basement wall fixers.

The standings in the Masters Flight: Macke Motors 191, Carroll Cycle Center 182, Utilcomm 180, WCI 160 and Greteman Chiropractic 158.

Over in the PGA Flight Van Diest Supply Company continued their winning ways last night with a 38 to 34 victory over Brown Shoe Fit Company. Brad Pick the MVP for the chemical company. Air time Pete Collison was also a winner over Jeff Bahr. Collison's round included a shank and blade slice shot into the trees. Welcome to the season Ryan Milligan! Thanks for coaching our area soccer youth.

Budweiser got a 40 to 32 win over Carroll Glass despite two team hat violations by GPS Bob Pudenz and Frozen Tom Farner. Pudenz and Uncle Bruce Player of the Year front runner Fred Dolezal were the only winners for the King of Beers. Head Glass Cutter Andy Reiman got a solid win over Tom Farner.

The head oil jobber Chico Kanne carried Community Oil to a 39 to 33 win over Carroll Broadcasting. Kanne was awarded low net. Kim's son Collin Hackett scored his third low gross honors in a row with a one under par 36 on the front. Hackett described Kanne's round as amazing. A shot that bounced off the cart path on #8 to 8' really got Hackett's attention to Kanne's talent. Also Kanne's birdie on #4 impressed the young lad. Todd Kanne also scored a win. Colin Bierl won for the broadcasters.

The standings in the PGA Flight: Van Diest Supply Company 208, Budweiser 194, Carroll Glass 181, Brown Shoe Fit 167 and Carroll Broadcasting 159.
