A cold and wet night…..Bud 3 and Bud 7 take home the Member to Member….Lots of events coming soon at Carroll National!

America’s favorite Supper League team was crushed by the bankers of Westside State Savings Bank! Long time subscriber, former top local amateur, highly successful, 2022 and 2023 Senior City Champion, avid bike enthusiast, and very veteran golfer Craig Mertz was taken down by Matt Flosh Fleshner. Records show that Mertz had to give Fleshner 2 shots! The head bank teller Bill Beck settled for a tie with CK Curt Kirsch. A formal protest has been filed into Beck’s score keeping skills as he had Mertz at 3 over and not 2 over. Bud Three Steve Hans Auen parred the last two holes to beat Ryan Lynch. Brett Pietig beat Mouthpiece Mike Franey. Bud Two Troy Auen was at home sitting by the fire, Security Mike Schulz took the night off, and Bud 7 Tyler Auen was spending time with his girlfriend.

Harley Davidson of Carroll is at the top of the Nicklaus Division by beating OH BOBBY 7-3. Reid Starr and the most decorated golfer in Papa Joe Classic history Deny Kasperbauer were winners for the cycles. Half of the walking duo Mike Soe beat the head hog Terry Ruchti.

The caskets of Sharp Funeral Home were upset by Palmer Division leaders Graddy’s Tomatoes 6-3. Peterman Tony Pietig was the only winner for the caskets. Dr. Decay Nick Fangman, Tator Tot Tim Gute, and Rick Grote were all winners for the tomatoes. Glad to see that the head casket himself didn’t get separated from his money this week like a couple of weeks ago and I am quoting an anonymous source.

Champion Ford upset Carpet One Floor and Home. Brad Hempy Hempstead the only winner for the carpets. The second best golfer at the Commercial Savings Bank Kevin Milligan was beat by Monument Man Loren Boyce. Tyler Putney the only other winner for the car lot.

Supper League’s most mature team Stiff Sticks trampled GR Ranch 7 to 3. 2025 Kuemper Graduate Dawson Billmeier and Tony Schultes the only winners for the sticks. Using my Jefferson math Dawson is like the youngest sub for the Stiff Sticks by like 50 years. Bud One Jim Auen hurt his shoulder doing yard work or maybe it was just the same reason as nephew Troy.

Forch’d in Fire lost a close on to the Templeton Savings Bank. Cody Forch the only winner. Trevin Vanderheiden and Teddy Ramaekers winners for the bankers from southern Carroll County

Special Events

Dawson Billmeir was low gross and net on the front. Reid Star was low gross and Tyler Putney were low gross and low net respectively on the back side

Closest to pins went to Cody Forch and Bill Beck(?)

Long Putt was awarded to Kyle Atkinson(how), Trevin Vanderheiden(maybe it's the glasses), Assistant Oil Jobber Todd Kanne and Bill Beck(?)

Here are the standings after week 6 of Supper League

Standings after week 6
Good turnout for the member-member
Bud 3 and Bud 7 win the Member-member

Short takes
  • Check out all of the great upcoming events at Carroll National on their Facebook page
  • Member Guest starts next week and Carroll PD have given the approval so John Dukes will be back in Carroll!
  • When is President Fleshner going to improve the league over at the Muny and keep the pace of play under 3 hours? He touts it as the best league, which is questionable. What is true it sure takes the longest!
  • Welcome Mal Foley back to Carroll to help with Carroll National!
    It fits his hand!

It's good to be back providing quality reporting about the golf world.

Happy Memorial Day!

Respectfully submitted from the world headquarters of the Franey Golf Report on U.S. Highway in Carroll.

ON IOWA AND GO HAWKS! Cheers!

Mike

Was the longest putt actually hit(struck) or was it given(gimme)?
