Mother Nature finally cut us a break last night and allowed the 2022 Men’s Supper League to get underway.
It was a hot
start to the 2022 golf season for your Michelob Ultra Team. Long-time
subscriber, former top local amateur, highly successful and very veteran golfer Craig
Mertz, Mouthpiece Mike Franey and Bud Three Steve Auen were all winners. Franey
secured the closest to the pin on #17 for the team. Busch Light guzzling Curt Kirsch was
upset by Leon Muhlbauer in Muhlbauer's long-awaited win. Muhlbauer will now be placed on the DL to prepare for
his upcoming surgery. Good luck Leon! Magic Mike Schulz had a blister pop sidelining
him for the first week. Bud Two Troy Auen enter the golf portal for one week
and accepted NIL money from Graddy’s Tomatoes. Bud Two suffered a loss to Cody
Forch. The Carroll Country Club’s most popular team is tied for the lead after
week one. Sean Canuso was saddened by not being listed as a member of OH BOBBY! Hint Hint!
Joining
Ultra at the top is Carroll Glass. A subbing Nate Mertz, Benton Snyder and Golf
Cart Eric Wunschel were all winners against the short Full Swing Golf team. Wunschel
was awarded the low net individual on the back nine. John Munson beat
Lidderdale’s Country Store head chef Brad Stork. Captain John Heim was inactive
but in constant instant messaging contact with his team. It looks like Heim will be a
candidate for captain of the year.
The caskets
of the Sharp Funeral Home buried Westside State Savings Bank 6-3. Nic Techie
Volquartsen and Windstar Lines dynamic driver Pat Greteman had their way with
Bill Beck and AA Aaron Ahrendsen. Karl Christensen was the only winner for the
bankers. New CCC Clubhouse manager Wade Pettitt was the low gross on the front
9 and could only tie his match.
Anytime
fitness sweated it out with Graddy’s Tomatoes 5-4. Tomato John was the only
winner for the tomatoes. Austin Scott and Cody Forch beat Tator Tot Tim Gute
and Bud Two Troy Auen. Car Wash Todd Pettitt was missing in action and Rick
Grote was playing in the dirt. Tomato John smashed his tomato into the hole for
longest putt on #8.
Kasperbauer
Cleaners were run over by the Harleys of the Carroll Cycle Center 7-2. HD of
Carroll is the third team tied for the league lead. Head hog Terry Ruchti, Joe
Pawlosky and the assistant oil jobber Todd Kanne were all winners. Pete
Juergens tied Wild Wade Adams to provide the only points for the cleaners.
Carpet One
Floor & Home slipped by Champion Ford 6-5. Jordan Sporrer the MVP for the
Fords. Sporrer was the low net on the back nine. Kevin “Mills” Milligan and
Brad Hempstead were on their game for the floor store. Hempstead was the low gross
on the back nine. Josh Sporrer nailed the longest putt on #18 which measured 6’
3”. Where was team captain Colin Bierl?
Campion
Chrysler and Stiff Sticks had a pillow fight and settling on a 4-4 tie. Trusty
Mike Nelson and Tony Schultes picked up wins for the CCC’s most mature team.
Dr. Svensson and Darrin Putney were winners for the cars. Putney is the listed
captain of record for both Champion Chrysler and Champion Ford. This publisher
wonders if this will increase his chances for the year long Captain of the Year
Award?
