Bud Light takes dead aim at Bud One’s La-Z-boys……..Mertz on the DL and the Cycles cheer for joy.
In the words of your publisher.......

It was around 6:00 on Saturday evening in the West rough of the signature hole of the Carroll Country Club when a pop silenced man kind for miles. That pop came from the back of Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz resulting in a position on the Bud Light disabled list. Mertz was wrestling with fellow report subscriber Kristy “Kwee” McDermott at the time of the accident. McDermott’s subscription to this report is on probation until further notice. Mertz’s condition is day to day.
Your Bud Light team will take on Carroll Supper league’s oldest team and former past champions…..The Prenger La-z-boys. The more mature team currently reside in 5th place just 11 points behind your Bud Light team. Making the call to the 5th tee this evening for YOUR Bud Light team will be 2009 MVP front runner BUD Three Steve “Hans” Auen, 2008 MVP contender Steve Sinnard, Bud Two Troy Auen, and YOUR Captain Mike Franey. 2008 Bud Light MVP Mike Schulz is in Minnesota relaxing with his family on a lake. Schulz will receive real time updates regarding tonight’s match.
All of the members of the Carroll Cycle Center team last week were seen doing the rain dance on the practice green prior to week 9 action. Fear is deadly and it was apparent the cycles were not ready to take on YOUR Bud Light team last week. The Cycles play the Broadband Bandits tonight and unofficial report sources say that Captain Terry Ruchti may be back in the line up tonight for the Cycles. The news is unofficial as all of my reporters are still covering the death of Michael Jackson.
The first place Community Oil Company tries to extinguish Feld Fire Equipment. This report is offering a free drink as a bounty to the Feld team for a victory over the oil jobbers. Second place Walsh Motors take on Carroll County State Bank.
Over in the minors Subway looks to improve on their 9th place position taking on Utilicom. Captain Comito’s Stiffsticks take on the guns of Volquartsen Custom and the sputtering Macke Motors team hopes to see clearly against the Carroll Eye Clinic.

· Congrats to Kirby Pettitt for a top ten showing at the Fort Dodge Am over the weekend and good luck in the Match Play event.

Bud One tops Bauer!
Congratulations to Bud One Jim Auen for advancing on in the Cleveland Golf Match Play Event last night at the Carroll Country Club with a last hole victory over LSU's fan club President Rick Bauer! This is a big victory for Auen who is recovering from a high ankle sprain and was putting off the match until the final deadline to rehab that ailing ankle. The two competitors were seen last night by your publisher enjoying an ice cold Bud after the match served up by Carroll Country Club's head bar keeper Jason Scranton. Bauer was still emotionally recovering from the thrill of the LSU's men's baseball team winning the college world series.
Auen's big victory comes on a day in which this country lost one of its Angels! Who will ever forget Farrah! Her battle with cancer was well documented and one we will never soon forget.
June 25th, 2009 will also be remembered as a day that the world said goodbye to the "King of Pop" Michael Jackson. Many people have their opinions of Jackson! His super stardom started at an early age, continued through the years where he was consider to be the greatest entertainer of all time and ended tarnished by his self inflicted bizarre acts of behavior.
Have a great weekend! Talk to on Tuesday with the week 10 line up show! Remember "This Bud's For You'!

Zach Johnson 1st place Community Oil will face off with Byron’s Boyz. Walsh Motors will play the Broadband Bandits. The La-z-boys will tee it up against Commercial Savings Bank. Week 8 wrap up!
In the words of your publisher:
http://www.visualtour.com/shownp.asp?T=1920248
Your Bud Light Team’s born on date is expired…….Junk Yard Dog aces #17, Tomato John Gradoville aces #8 and NO Bud Light Week 8 MVP!
On a night that all of the stars were lining up for a big Bud Light victory the winds of change came over the Carroll Country Club along with a film of oil. That’s right the oil jobbers from Community Oil Company stood toe to toe with your Bud Light team showed no respect for the defending champions solidly beat your Bud Light team 40 to 32. Laurens Iowa’s best pizza maker Todd Kanne played well beating your Captain 10 to 8, Dick Mulhbauer topped 2009 MVP contender Steve “Hans” Auen 10 to 8. Head Oiler Chico Kanne tied 2008 Bud Light MVP Mike Schulz in your Bud Light team’s only glimmer of greatness. Mike Nelson beat Bud Light team sponsor Troy Auen 11 to 7. With all of that your Bud Light team goes from 1st to 3rd 7 points behind the fine folks from Community Oil Company. Walsh Motors topped Commercial Savings Bank 40 to 32 and leap frogged your Bud Light team moving the Motors into 2nd!
The Bud Light MVP race is now all tied up with Steve “Hans” Auen and Steve Sinnard knotted up averaging 10.20 points each week. No MVP award this week for your Bud Light team and the Week 9 line ups will be released at a later date!
The Carroll Cycle Center blew a tire last night losing to Byron’s Boyz 41 to 31. The Cycles are 8 points behind your Bud Light team in 4th place. Week 8 MVP for the Cycles is Tony Bluml. Terry Ruchti remains the MVP front runner with a 1 point lead over Tony Bluml.
Over in the Tiger Woods division Captain Frank Comito’s Stiffsticks continue their winning ways taking care Utilicom 42 to 30. The Sticks are 11 points ahead of a hot Juergen’s Lawn and Landscape team who thumped Volquartsen Customs 47 to 25. It has always been this publisher’s opinion that it is not a good thing to make the customs mad as they play with guns.
Macke Motors lost a close one to the Nate Pettitt’s Carroll Country Club team. On the golf course it really does not matter if you have won a state championship or you are a golf professional because the experience of being around the block a time or two makes all the difference. You guessed it the old veteran Grandpa Uncle Bruce knocked the legs out from under nephew Nate last night beating him 11 to 7. Randy Bierl and Joel Flug suffered loses. Flying Bob Raue was a winner as well. Flying Bob is still in the clouds from his big upset win over Papa Joe Pick over the weekend on the fairways and greens of Brooks National Golf Course.
Other news worthy items………………………..
· Welcome to new subscribers John Feld from Feld Fire Equipment, Carroll Glass’ Andy Reiman and Tom Burns from the Daily Times Herald.
· Congrats go out to the Carroll Country Club’s head bar keeper Jason Scranton who had his lowest round ever last night with a 38 on the back nine and throttling Macke Motor’s Randy Bierl 13 to 5.
· Congratulations goes out to Antivirus Adam Schweers for beating Jodi Kanne in a close match in the Cleveland Golf Match Play event going on now at the club.
· The great shooting award goes out to Wade Pettitt for his 7 under 30 on the front nine of the Carroll Country Club last night
· A formal investigation has been launched with the Carroll Country Club Handicap Chairman against La-z-boys Louie Prenger by a member of the Miller Lite team. Bud One Jim Auen who is recovering from his high ankle sprain may have come back to action too soon as he was beaten badly by Pat Malloy. Auen was seen using all of the ice from the beer cart to take care of that swelling ankle.
· The June 30th Supper League trade deadline is fast approaching so any teams have some dead weight just kick ‘em to the crib or send them over to the Soggy Subs. The Subs last night lost to the Sharp Funeral Home. Pat “Spanky Vollstedt and Steve “Cuda” Quandt were winners, Captain Papa Joe Pick tied and Hy-Vee Produce Manager Tom “Duffer” Duff was gutted by Rick Bauer 14 to 4. No smiles in the Hy-Vee’s produce isles today
· Hawkeye Commodity Brokers are making a move in the Tiger Woods division moving into 4th place. The 2008 Papa Joe Okoboji Classic Champion Digger Dave Nelson led the way for the Brokers!
It’s the time! Next Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Carroll Country Club 5:30 in the evening!
#3 Bud Light vs. #4 Carroll Cycle Center
That is a wrap for week 8! A little stumble for your Bud Light team last night although half the season remains. All of the staff at Bud Light world headquarters would like to thank Mac’s Corner Café for the coffee and rolls this morning. However the girls are worried that if your Bud Light team goes on a losing streak that their figures are going to be affected by the grief buffet provided Mac’s Corner Cafe.

Week 8 line ups!
In the words of your publisher: http://www.visualtour.com/shownp.asp?T=1918943
Zach Johnson’s division #1 vs #2 squares off tonight and Keeley Sinnard takes down part of the Pettitt dynasty!
Congratulations to Keeley Sinnard for her big win over Kirby Pettitt on Sunday in their Match play contest.
Week 8 will depend on Mother Nature as rain is scheduled for the Carroll area. Your Bud Light team starts week 8 with a one point lead over the Community Oil Company. The oil jobbers are riding high after their crushing of the Broadband Bandits last week. Another title fight tonight for your defending champions…that’s right Zach Johnson division’s #1 vs #2 for the second straight week. Bud Light vs. the Community Oil Company!
Making the call to the 5th tee tonight is the 2008 Bud Light MVP Mike Schulz who returns from a week off. The MVP lost a heartbreaker in the Match Play event last Thursday losing to Andy Ahrenholz. 2009 MVP front runner Steve “Hans” Auen will be back from a week 7 benching to take dead aim at Oil man.
Week 7 MVP team sponsor Troy Auen is looking to continue his good play of late. Auen participated in the Hawkeye Radio Network event yesterday in historic Iowa City Iowa. Rounding out the team will be your Captain Mike Franey coming off his low net and low gross honors in week 7. Steve Sinnard and Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz will be riding the week 8 pine. Mertz will be taking his game of the Zach Johnson division and over to the Tiger Woods division to sub for Macke Motors who are in 2nd place 3 points behind Captain Comito’s Stiffsticks. The Motors take on the Carroll Country Club starting on hole # 10.
The Carroll Cycle Center tees it up against Bryon’s Boyz tonight. The Cycles are in 4th place just 7 points out of the lead. Over in the Tiger Woods division Subway tries to better their 9th place standing taking on Kyle Atkinson’s Sharp Funeral Home. Atkinson was awarded low gross in Breda last week. Subway’s off season acquisition Pat “Spanky” Vollstedt told your publisher last night on the practice green that and I do quote “It is the start of the come back for our team.” Look for good things from the Subway team in the tomorrow mornings report. It is great to hear the enthusiasm from a member of the Subway team because if they are not careful the next sound this report is going to hear is the subs falling into the cellar.
Other news worthy items………………………..
· On Sunday it took 17 holes for your Captain to outlast a scrappy and mouthy Kristy “the intimidator” McDermott in the match play tourney. Next up for your Captain is Carroll Cycle Center’s Jay Drees who beat MC’s Café’s Mark Tigges in 19 holes.
· Class 2A All State golfer Kenidy Eckerman daughter of 20 time Carroll City Champion Mike “Jewels” Eckerman has signed a letter of intent to play for the DMACC Bears Women’s Golf team! Good luck Kenidy!
· Congratulations to Hy-Vee Store Director Joel Flug for his first career hole in one on Sunday on hole #8 at the Carroll Country Club. Flug was playing with Tom Burns, Pete Collison and Doug Burns.
· Get well wishes go out to Bud One Jim Auen who is recovering from a sprained ankle. Auen was spotted last night along side his therapist Jeff Aden at the range. It appeared that Auen was favoring that ankle as his range of motion was hindered a little. LSU Fan Club President Rick Bauer awaits Auen in the match play event.

Week 7 results!

In the words of your publisher....
Another one bites the dust……It’s a boy…….Team Sponsor Troy Auen MVP!
The Bud Light Report would like to congratulate Carroll real estate Broker Patrick O’Leary and wife Jodi on their new bouncing baby boy. Kolin Patrick O’Leary weighed in at 9 pounds and 5 ounces on the scales of St. Anthony Regional Hospital. I am happy to report that the proud papa is doing fine! A new fan of the fighting Irish of Notre Dame has arrived!
Week 7 opened with your Bud Light team holding onto a four point lead in the Zach Johnson division and Week 7 closes with the lead trimmed to only one. Community Oil vaulted from its 9th place in week 6 to 2nd in week 7 just one point behind your Bud Light Team. The oil jobbers rose to the top faster than the price of crude oil by whipping the Broadband Bandits 56 to 16. Supper league historians claim that this is the largest margin of victory in modern supper league history.
The true heart of a champion was evident on your Bud Light team last night out lasting Walsh Motors 37 to 35. Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz was knocked down early in his title match but he dug deep to fight back only to fall short with a closing hole collapse losing to Bob Muhlbauer 10 to 8. The other half of the Dream Team Steve Sinnard battled to a draw with Dam to Dam participant Mark Thomsen.
Week 7 MVP honors go out to Bud Light team sponsor Troy Auen who was knocked down twice early in his match by Jeff Benninger. Auen fought back to over come his opponent 10 to 8 despite a drive on hole 14 that was found bouncing on Howard and Pat Drees’ deck!
Auen did a fine job last night of driving Captain Mike Franey around the back nine of the Carroll Country Club. Your Captain took care of the President of the Missouri Tiger’s fan club Jair Mayhall 10 to 8. Captain Franey fired an even par 34 to capture low gross honors with long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz. Captain Franey was also awarded low net honors tying Carroll Cycle Center’s Week 7 MVP Dr. J.B. Greenwell. For their efforts Walsh Motors falls to 3rd just one point ahead of the Carroll Cycle Center. The 2009 Bud Light MVP race remained unchanged last night as front runner Steve “Hans” Auen extended his lead over second place Captain Mike Franey and third place Steve Sinnard. The Dream Team will officially spend week 8 on the bench. 2008 MVP Mike Schulz played for Volquartsen Custom last night and beat local funeral director Kyle Atkinson 11 to 7. Both Schulz and 2009 MVP front runner Steve “Hans” Auen will be back in action next week.
The cycles extinguished the fire of Feld Fire Equipment 39 to 33 riding the wings of Dr. J. B. Greenwell. D.A. Tony Bluml beat Westside Iowa’s Matt Lujano 10 to 8, Jay Drees ended all square with Scott Greteman and MC’s Country Café’s head cooking professional Mark Tigges was beaten by a tough Tony Pietig 6 to 12. Captain Terry Ruchti holds onto his ½ point lead over Joe Hinners in the MVP race. Hinners took the night off to ride over to Cornhusker country to watch the building of a new combine. One has to question the priorities of Mr. Hinners!
In a crafty move reserved only for an attorney Stiffsticks Captain Frank Comito subbed for Juergens Lawn and Landscape against Macke Motors who were six points behind the sticks in the Tiger Woods division. Comito grounded Flying Bob Raue 11 to 7. Uncle Bruce Pettitt, Car Wash Todd Pettitt, and Hy-Vee Store Director Joel Flug were beaten as well. Despite the poor performance Macke Motors only lost one point to the Stiffsticks who suffered blunt force to head from Subway Mike Kerps squad.
Other news worthy items………………………..
· Welcome to new subscribers Carroll Country Club’s Brenda Stickrod, Ron Juergens and Commercial Savings Bank’s Chairman of Board Pat Moehn.
· Commercial Savings Bank recovered from last weeks natural disaster beating Larry’s Automotive 41 to 31
· The bright spot for the Moldy Subs this week was low gross honors for Papa Joe Pick. Papa Joe shot a one over par 38 for his very own PRO V-1 golf ball. The Subs were beaten by the Carroll Country Club 39 to 33 and fall to 9th place in the Tiger Woods division.

Week 7 line up
Week 7 line up and the Zach Johnson division’s #1 and #2 square off!
In the words of your publisher: http://www.visualtour.com/shownp.asp?T=1911912
This week your Bud Light team will take on Walsh Motors who are only 4 points behind the defending champions in the Zach Johnson division. This week your Bud Light team line up will feature the dream team as they like to be called long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz who has been a scoring tear of late will try to improve on his 4th place standing in the this years MVP race. Riding shotgun with Mertz will be last weekends birthday boy Steve Sinnard who is just a ¼ point behind 2009 MVP front runner Steve “Hans” Auen. Auen will be sitting out this week along with 2008 Bud Light MVP Mike Schulz.
In the featured pairing of the evening your Captain Mike Franey will back in action on the back nine of the Carroll Country Club. Driving your Captain around will be Bud Light team sponsor Bud Two Troy Auen.
As of press time this morning there had been no word who will make the call to the 17th or 18th tee for the Motors. This match will prove to be very important……so mark calendars and remember what happen in Week 7.
The 3rd place Carroll Cycle Center team will take on the firemen from Feld Fire Equipment. This publisher wonders if Joe Hinners will step up to the plate and reclaim the MVP front runner status from Captain Terry Ruchti who remains on the D.L. Bud One Jim Auen’s La-z-boys take on the Carroll County State Bank. Commercial Savings Bank tries to recover from a natural disaster last week. They take on the Larry’s automotive team who upset your Bud Light team last week. Watch for more outstanding play from Dr. P.J. Greteman who thumped 2009 Bud Light MVP front runner Steve “Hans” Auen last week resulting in the front runner to ride the Week 7 pine. The Broadband Bandits take on a hot Community Oil team who clubbed CSB right out of second place last week.
Over in the minor division Subway looks for a needed win. They tee off against the Carroll Country Club. In a Saturday afternoon interview Subway Mike Gute took time after his first round of the Carroll Am to answer some tough questions from this reporter. Subway Mike stated and I do quote “I think the team is still under construction and they do not realize that the store construction is completed and they need to start to playing better.” Subway Mike side stepped the question about the sponsorship for the 2010 team. Who can blame his reaction when the team is currently in 7th place 27 points out of the lead? Captain Papa Joe Pick has to feel like he is on the hot seat! Macke Motors attempts to close the lead held by Captain Comito’s Stiffsticks. Macke Motors play Juergens Lawn and Landscape and the Stiffsticks tee it up against Subway Mike Gute’s Kerps team. The Sticks are holding on to a 6 point lead. This publisher looks for Flying Bob Raue to be in the line up after carrying the team last week.

Week 6 in review!
Your Bud Light Team falls…… Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz is MVP…..Cycles and Subs Win!
This publisher realized while watching the ten o’clock news last night that he had not received an update from the Carroll Country Club on the performance of your Bud Light Team! The fax machine at world headquarters delivered the news early on Wednesday morning and it was then that I determine that the team was playing rock paper scissors to see who would make the call and that they must have never determined a caller.
The good news is your Bud Light team still remains in 1st place in the Zach Johnson division just 4 points ahead of Walsh Motors. Long time subscriber, top local amateur, highly successful and more veteran golfer Craig Mertz led Your Bud Light team last night with another solid round of two under par 35 to capture low gross honors. Mertz leads the team in scoring averaging with 34.67 per round and is currently in 4th place in the MVP standings averaging just better than a tie each week. Bud Light team sponsor Troy Auen picks up his first win of the season in week 6 beating Bill Bird 10 to 8. Our team sponsor is in 5th place in the MVP standings averaging 9.33 points each night.
Bud Light MVP front runner Steve “Hans” Auen struggled with Dr. P.J. Greteman 8 to 10 but still hangs on to the MVP lead with a 10.75 point average which is only ¼ point ahead of Captain Mike Franey and Steve Sinnard. The MVP criteria may have to change if the MVP front runner shoots many more 8 over par 45’s. 2008 MVP Mike Schulz had his train derailed last night by Rich Hartley or maybe himself by shooting a 9 over par 46. Nice shooting Mr. Schulz and for your efforts you are currently in last place in the 2009 MVP standing. Oh what a difference a year makes. Simply put the 2008 MVP and 2009 MVP front runner are benched for Week 7 action.
Steve Sinnard subbed and crossed over into the Tiger Woods division to play for Macke Motors. He nailed longest putt honors on hole #18 and scored 10 points for the Motors in their win! Flying Bob Raue was the MVP for the Macke Motors team winning big 12 to 6. Not sure he would be this publisher’s choice to put on waivers.
Sinnard and your Captain will return to action next week in attempt to preserve the lead!
The Carroll Cycle Center team gained a few points on your Bud Light Team moving into 3rd place. Week 6 MVP for the Cycles was J.B. Greenwell who beat Fred Dolezal 12 to 6. M.C. Café’s heading cooking professional Mark Tigges and Jay Drees each tied their match. Joe Hinners was the Cycles only loser. Captain Terry Ruchti who is recovering nicely from hip surgery takes over the season MVP lead from Hinners. Hinners just can’t ride his 18 point win in week 1 to the MVP award.
The Cycles were able to take over third because of the collapse of hottest team in the league Commercial Savings Bank who were destroyed by Community Oil 49 to 23.
Other news worthy items………….
· Birthday wishes go out this Saturday to Bud Light’s Steve Sinnard and Cable Guy Scott Kanne
· Congratulations to the Carroll High girl’s golf team for winning the 3A State Championship this week!
· Congratulations to the Kuemper girl’s golf team for finishing up a fine season in a tie for second in class 2A.
· Congrats to Subway for picking up a win last night and staying out of the cellar in the Tiger Woods division. The Subs were low net team so team captain Papa Joe Pick finally earned his very own Titleist Pro V1 golf ball and does not have to wait around the bar for handouts from your Bud Light team! Papa Joe was the Subs MVP last night as well! Oh boy we will see what success does to him next week.
· Good round for Carroll Clothier Wade Wilkie with a 39 on the front and scoring 13 points for the team.
· Carroll County State Bank disconnected the Broadband Bandits 42 to 25
· I met Bud One Jim Auen speeding West on 18th street after league play and now I know why since he was the low point getter for the La-z-boys. The Boys extinguished the fireman from Feld Fire Equipment. Tiger Tom Simons had a birthday on Tuesday and did not play because of a baseball game obligation.
Welllll that is a wrap for Week 6 and your Bud Light team on top of the Zach Johnson division. Your Captain will return to action next week! Have a great week!
